Ensuring Workplace Safety and Compliance: The Crucial Role of Comprehensive Employment Testing

Creating a safe and compliant workplace is a top priority for any organization. One of the key strategies to achieve this is through comprehensive employment testing. The Annex Employment Testing Center, we offer a range of services designed to ensure the safety, well-being, and regulatory compliance of your workforce. Here are a few examples of the services we offer and their role in creating a secure and compliant work environment.

Drug and Alcohol Testing:

Pre-employment and random drug testing programs are essential for a secure and compliant workforce. These programs are also incentivized by reduced Workers’ Compensation fees and potentially lower insurance premiums. Implementing a Third Party Administrator (TPA) can efficiently manage random pool coordination and testing, enhancing the effectiveness of your drug and alcohol program.

We are able to complete federal and non-federal drug screens. Our non-federal drug testing services include rapid panels and lab based testing. Rapid drug testing includes 5 panel, 10 panel and 12 panel urine drug screens. These provide immediate results, enabling quick decision-making in the hiring process. Lab based drug screens require the specimen to be sent to a laboratory to be tested. Federal drug screening requires the specimen be sent to a laboratory for testing, followed with a review by a Medical Review Officer (MRO). Lab based testing results are typically released within 24-72 hours. For further information regarding drug testing, please call our office.

Alcohol testing is completed using an evidential breath alcohol tester and can be completed for federal and non-federal purposes.

All collectors at The Annex are trained to complete urine drug and breath alcohol collections per 49 CFR Part 40 regulation.

Baseline Pre-Hire Physicals and Human Performance Exams (HPE):

For physically demanding jobs, preliminary pre-hire physicals (DOT or NonDOT) and HPEs are invaluable. These tests evaluate the overall health and physical capabilities of new hires, providing an initial record of health and function. In the event of a work-related injury, these baselines facilitate Workers' Compensation processes, set rehabilitation goals, and prevent the hiring of individuals incapable of safely performing the requirements of the job.

Audiometric Testing:

In industries where exposure to loud noises is common, such as construction or manufacturing, audiometry testing is essential. By establishing a baseline and conducting annual hearing tests, employers can assess the effectiveness of safety equipment and identify potential hearing loss early on. This proactive approach ensures the proper use of hearing protection and promotes employee well-being. We provide this service in the office or on-site to help you stay relevant to your employees’ annual wellness.

OSHA Questionnaires, Pulmonary Function Tests, and Respirator Fit Tests:

Often overlooked but critically important, OSHA Questionnaires, Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), and Respirator Fit Tests play a vital role in workplace safety. PFTs provide a baseline of lung capacity for employees working in environments with air pollutants, while Respiratory Fit tests ensure the proper use and effectiveness of respirators. These tests not only contribute to a safer workplace but also ensure compliance with regulatory agencies in various industries. We carry several respirators on-hand for your convenience.
